A new highlight is coming to the popular Kuusamo travel region: starting in winter 2025, the Lumo Lakeside Lodges will complement the existing Iisakki Village experience. The first units can be booked starting November 30, 2025.
This new resort project is the result of a partnership between local activity provider Ruka Safaris and the Finnish log building specialist PolarHouse. A total of 12 high-quality holiday cabins with lakeside views are planned. Five lodges will open for guests in late 2025, and the remaining seven will be completed during 2026.
Each 55 m² lodge accommodates up to four people (2+2 beds) and features large panoramic windows, upscale interiors, a private sauna, and an outdoor hot tub. A special highlight: a double-sided natural stone fireplace warms both the living and sleeping areas, adding a cozy touch.
The design is inspired by the historic log architecture of the adjacent Iisakki Village. Using traditional axe-hewn-style wood paneling (piiluhirsi) combined with modern construction techniques, the lodges blend harmoniously into the cultural landscape. The result is an authentic and comfortable atmosphere that resonates with today’s travelers.
For PolarHouse, this collaboration reflects a growing strategic focus: “We are committed to serving tourism entrepreneurs with the same passion as private clients,” explains CEO Sameli Lähdesmäki. “Guest expectations have risen significantly. Our goal is to respond with inspiring holiday properties developed in close partnership with local tourism professionals.”
The Lumo Lakeside Lodges offer a stylish and nature-connected stay in Finnish Lapland – perfect for active winter holidays, romantic getaways, and international visitors looking for peace and authenticity. The first five lodges will be available for booking from November 30, 2025.
