The European Capital of Culture initiative annually designates cities to celebrate and promote their cultural contributions within Europe. Kiruna follows Stockholm (1998) and Umeå (2014) as Sweden's representatives, sharing the 2029 title with Lublin, Poland.
Situated above the Arctic Circle, Kiruna offers a blend of natural wonders and cultural heritage.
