Hurtigruten is expanding its winter portfolio for the 2026/27 season with a new six-day itinerary connecting two distinct Arctic regions. “Northern Delights: Svalbard and Arctic Norway” starts with a land programme in Svalbard before continuing via Tromsø along the Norwegian coast to Kirkenes.
Rather than being a conventional cruise itinerary, the product combines accommodation, activities, a flight and a coastal voyage within one journey.
Guests spend the first part of the trip in Longyearbyen, with experiences including an evening at Camp Barentz and a husky safari.
From Svalbard, travellers fly to Tromsø before boarding Hurtigruten for the journey north. Stops include Skjervøy, Hammerfest and Honningsvåg, with an optional excursion to the North Cape.
The journey finishes in Kirkenes, where guests can extend their stay independently.
The interesting development for the travel trade lies not only in the new Hurtigruten product itself, but in its structure. Svalbard provides the polar winter and wilderness element, Tromsø serves as a connecting Arctic hub, while the coastal journey adds the North Cape, Norwegian coastal landscapes and Kirkenes to the experience.
Hurtigruten says the product responds to growing demand for winter experiences in the far north, particularly among UK travellers. While this does not directly reflect Benelux demand, it provides an interesting indication of how major operators are packaging Arctic winter travel.
Selected departures are available from December 2026 through March 2027.
