Norwegian tourism is seeing a significant ownership change at infrastructure level. Adventure travel group Norwegian Travel, together with private equity investor Longship Fund, has agreed to sell several of its flagship tourism assets to German asset manager DWS. The transaction goes beyond a company sale. It affects core visitor infrastructure that shapes how entire destinations are accessed and experienced.
The portfolio includes:
the Fjellheisen cable car in Tromsø
the Romsdalsgondolen in Åndalsnes
the scenic Arctic Train on the Ofotbanen
The Golden Train on the Raumabanen
These are not peripheral attractions. They function as cornerstones for itineraries, capacity planning, and seasonal product design.
An investor with a long-term horizon is likely to view these assets as platforms for product optimisation rather than standalone attractions.
