The acquisition strengthens Geoplan Privatreisen’s expertise in tailor-made travel to the Baltic region

German tour operator Geoplan Privatreisen has taken another step in expanding its European portfolio. At the beginning of the year, the company acquired Mare Baltikum Reisen, a long-established specialist for travel to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The move aims to reinforce Geoplan’s position in experiential travel across Northern and Eastern Europe.

Broader distribution through travel agencies

As part of the integration, Mare Baltikum Reisen’s products will become fully bookable within Geoplan’s portfolio. In addition, the Baltic programmes will increasingly be distributed via travel agencies, improving market access and visibility for Baltic travel products in Central Europe.

Shared focus on tailor-made experiences

Founded more than 30 years ago, Mare Baltikum Reisen has built a strong reputation for customized travel in the Baltic States. Its portfolio includes self-drive itineraries, walking and cycling tours, city breaks, guided group tours and private travel concepts. This complements Geoplan’s existing focus on flexible, high-quality culture, nature and culinary journeys.

Market relevance for tour operators

The acquisition reflects a broader market trend: growing demand for specialized European destinations beyond traditional hotspots. For tour operators and travel professionals, it signals increased momentum in the Baltic region and highlights the value of consolidated expertise and strong destination know-how.
