Access fee for the Faroe Islands from 2025

From October 2025, every tourist must pay a tax to enter the archipelago. The law was recently passed by the Faroese government.

The tax is charged per person and day, regardless of the type of overnight stay. It is - in relation to the daily fee - most expensive for cruise passengers, who have to pay about EUR 9 for a shore leave.

The full amount of the tourist tax goes into a fund to ensure the protection of the local nature.

The archipelago has recently been visited by more and more tourists - especially travellers from the USA.
