Swiss holiday airline Edelweiss boosts access to Swedish Lapland

Swiss leisure carrier Edelweiss is expanding its route network with a new direct connection between Zürich and Luleå. Starting December 19, 2025, the Lufthansa Group airline will fly once a week to Luleå Airport in northern Sweden—just in time for the start of the 2025/26 winter season.

Boost for winter tourism

The new connection will benefit not only skiers and northern lights enthusiasts but also business travelers and those visiting family and friends. The direct flight strengthens northern Sweden’s international accessibility and offers Swiss guests a new winter destination in the far north.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Edelweiss to Luleå Airport,” says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director of Aviation Business at Swedavia. “Zürich is a popular destination for many reasons, and with growing interest in Swedish Lapland, we expect this route to perform very well. Our goal is to facilitate connections—whether for business, leisure, or family visits—and this new direct route plays a key role.”

From December 19, 2025, Edelweiss will operate weekly flights between Zürich and Luleå using an Airbus A320 with 174 seats.
