Discover Airlines continues to strengthen its presence in the Nordic region. From the 2026/27 winter season, the airline will introduce a new direct flight from Munich to Ivalo in Finnish Lapland, while also expanding its summer network to Northern Norway.
For tour operators and travel professionals, this is more than an airline update – it signals changing conditions for itinerary design, accessibility and future Nordic programs.
From mid-December to mid-April, Discover Airlines will operate one weekly direct flight (Wednesdays) between Munich and Ivalo. This new connection significantly improves access to Finnish Lapland from Southern Germany.
Ivalo is widely seen as a gateway to quieter, more remote Arctic experiences. The new route supports:
winter programs focused on Northern Lights
longer stays with fewer transfers
more flexible itineraries in Northern Finland
Discover Airlines is also increasing summer capacity:
Frankfurt – Bodø (from 23 May 2026, Tuesdays & Saturdays)
Munich – Evenes (from 13 May 2026, Wednesdays & Saturdays)
These routes further strengthen Northern Norway’s position for nature-based and outdoor travel in the summer season.
With up to 15 weekly flights to destinations in Iceland, Norway and Finnish Lapland, Discover Airlines is offering its most extensive Nordic schedule so far – combining year-round and seasonal services.
