New direct flights will connect Frankfurt with two destinations in eastern Finland from 2027

Discover Airlines is expanding its Finland network with two new seasonal services in 2027. The leisure airline will fly from Frankfurt to Savonlinna in summer and to Kajaani in winter. Each route will be the only direct connection from Frankfurt to the respective destination.

The summer service to Savonlinna will begin on 19 June 2027 and operate as an overnight flight every Saturday evening. Located in the Finnish Lakeland on Lake Saimaa, Savonlinna provides access to the region’s nature, culture and outdoor experiences. The late arrival will also allow visitors to experience eastern Finland’s light summer nights immediately after landing.

Flights to Kajaani will begin on 17 December 2027 and operate every Friday. During winter, the region offers opportunities for outdoor activities and Northern Lights viewing. Kajaani can also serve as a gateway for itineraries covering the surrounding regions.

Eight Nordic destinations in the schedule

The new routes form part of Discover Airlines’ continued expansion in the Nordic countries. From 2027, its network will include eight destinations in Iceland, Norway and Finland, served by approximately 20 weekly flights from Frankfurt and Munich.

In addition to the new routes, the airline serves destinations including Kittilä, Ivalo, Alta, Evenes, Bodø and Reykjavík. Services operate either seasonally or throughout the year, depending on the destination.

Flights to Savonlinna are already available through Discover Airlines, Lufthansa, German tour operators and travel agencies. Tickets for the Kajaani service are expected to become available in December 2026.
