Opening of the Citybox Hotel in Stockholm: Modern accommodation in the historic Katarinahuset

On Friday 14 June, Citybox opened its first hotel in Sweden with 104 rooms in the historic Katarinahuset in the heart of Slussen. The hotel is located in the same building as the famous Katarina lift and the renowned Gondolen restaurant.

The hotel opened to paying guests on 14 June and received a rating of 9.0 out of 10 points on booking.com. Eivind Hjulstad, CEO of Citybox, reports a high occupancy rate since the opening and positive feedback from guests, which underlines the demand for their concept in Stockholm.

This opening marks a significant step for Citybox and is part of the development of Slussen into an up-and-coming destination in the Swedish capital.

As part of the hotel chain's efforts to operate more sustainably, the hotel is already applying for Green Key certification. Green Key is the leading environmental certification in the hotel and tourism sector. The lease agreement for Hotel Citybox Stockholm is a "green lease" - an agreement between landlord and tenant on joint measures to maintain and improve the environmental footprint of the building.
