airBaltic is expanding its network for the 2026/27 winter season, with a clear focus on Kuusamo in northern Finland. New direct routes will significantly improve accessibility for international travelers.
From December 2026, airBaltic will launch several new routes to Kuusamo, including direct flights from Berlin and Hamburg, as well as from Manchester and London Gatwick. In addition, a connection from Riga to Kuusamo will serve as a further gateway for international travel. All routes will initially operate once per week during the winter season.

The expansion responds to growing demand for Nordic winter destinations. Kuusamo is well known for activities such as skiing, snowshoeing and Northern Lights experiences. Direct flights from major markets such as Germany and the UK will simplify travel planning and reduce travel time.
The new routes are part of airBaltic’s broader strategy to diversify its network across both sun and winter destinations. Kuusamo is positioned as a key entry point for winter travel in northern Finland.
The new connections make it easier to design and sell winter packages. Short breaks and ready-made programs become more accessible and attractive for international markets. At the same time, the expansion highlights continued strong demand for Nordic winter destinations and ongoing investment in accessibility.
