Summer time in Levi is full of interesting and unique happenings not to forget the beautiful and bright surroundings. Take part in the 24-hour biking tour, celebrate the midsummer on top of Levi fell or relax while getting an herbal treatment. Here are some events from the versatile summer event calendar of Levi:

12. – 13.6. LEVI24 mountain bike competition
24 hours of biking in teams and the longest ride will win. Finnish alpine skier Tanja Poutiainen has her own team to challenge others. Everyone can join this sporty festival with its fun atmosphere!

24. – 27.6. Midnight sun summit for motorcyclists

Midsummer celebration in the Panorama Restaurant Tuikku. Karaoke, dancing with live music and the traditional midsummer bonfire will make this unique Nordic festival unforgettable.

8. – 12.7. Traditional summer market in Kittilä
Feel the carnival atmosphere in the town of Kittilä. A versatile programme for all ages: market stands, live music, dancing, car exhibition, adventure park and guided tours in different themes just to name a few.

11.7. Crocodile Rock- Fishing competition in Ounasjoki River
Try to catch grayling, salmon trout or perch in the fishing competition in the rapids of the river Ounasjoki.

28.8. Jackpot Hullu Poro Ladies Open Golf tournament
Golf competition for ladies on the beautiful golf course of Levi. Golfing during day time, karaoke and dancing in the evening.

11.9. The 27th Ruska Marathon and 10. -12.9. Ruska Market
42,195 km through a stunning landscape and “Ruska” (autumn colours in Lapland)! Activities for the whole family: full, half and quarter marathon for adults, Ruska Walk for seniors and other easy goers and kid’s runs for young runners up to 12 years.
From Friday to Sunday the Ruska market offers all kind of goods from souvenirs and sports equipment to hot sausages and warm drinks.

Hullu Poro: Snowmobile Safari to the Snow Restaurant

Snow and ice all over. An exciting adventure driving a snowmobile to the restaurant made of snow and ice. Luvattumaa is located by the river Ounasjoki, north of Levi. We ride by snowmobile around Levi fell ending up in a tepee restaurant for lunch. Before lunch we get familiar with the amazing ice restaurant built by the host Pekka Jussila. The tables and bar counter are made of pure ice from the Ounasjoki river. We enjoy salmon or reindeer soup for lunch. Finally we head back to Levi by snowmobile trough the forests.

Ideally located on the mountainside of Levi Fell the new Hotel Levi Panorama provides high standard, comfortable accommodation with fantastic views to the Arctic forests and the fell landscape. Hullu Poro: 3-5-day Husky Safaris

You would like to explore the winter wilderess of Finnish Lapland in an adventurous way? Choose some friendly and speedy husky dogs to accompany you! The 3-5-day husky safaris of the Hotel Hullu Poro start from the husky park in the village of Köngäs, where the participants meet their four-legged friends. From there the group heads to the raftsman’s cottage in Ruskisrova, app. 40 km from the park. From Ruskisrouva the group will go on daily excursions into the surroundings of the Pallas fell and national park. After a long day in the nordic nature the guests will be pampered with hot sauna and dinner in Ruskisrova. The safari ends by returning to the husky park in the village of Köngäs.

Oulu Region: Guided Birdwatching in Liminganlahti

The Liminganlahti Bay is located only 30 minutes from the Oulu with the atmosphere of an almost untouched wilderness. It offers the best opportunities for bird watching in Finland. The Liminganlahti Bay is Finland’s most valuable wetland area, where birds nest and stop to rest. Bird watching in the area is easy, thanks to several bird watching towers and boardwalks. The visitor centre is located in the village of Virkkula.

The bay covers an area of 109 km². Different vegetation zones, shore meadows, reed beds, willows and birch forests offer good nesting places for a variety of bird species.

The west coast is a lowland agricultural area and is greatly favoured by migrating water owl and waders. Due to the continuous rising of land from the sea, there are vast areas of peat land around Oulu.

Whooper Swans, common Cranes, black-tailed Godwits, Taiga Bean Goose, young Cranes, Ruff, Jack Snipe, Greenshank, Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, Montagu`s Harrier and Pallid Harrier.

Expert guide meets your group at the Visitor Centre. There is a short walk to the bird watching tower.
