We are running this company, Hotel Iso Syöte & Safaris, as a DMC where the total concept of accommodation, hospitality, activities, restaurant services and unique tailor-made programs are combined, always making use of the peace, space and possibilities of our natural surroundings and wild nature.

Located in the triangle of the three main airports of Lapland (Rovaniemi, Oulu and Kuusamo) means that Iso Syöte is always within easy reach.

The hotel
There are 30 double rooms mostly with a splendid view over the forest and valley below, 20 real Finnish kelo cottages made of full round pine-logs and 16 big family cottages on the very top of the hill. All cottages are fully equipped and clients can enjoy the warm comfort of their own sauna and fireplace in the cottages.

Nature & Activities
Our safaris take you on adventurous trips to discover the area. In winter, when all is heavily covered under a thick layer of glimmering snow you can enjoy snowmobile tours, ice rally drives, husky and reindeer sledge rides, snowshoe hikes, ice fishing trips or downhill and cross country skiing straight from the hotel or the cottages. In summer we explore nature by hiking, canoeing on lakes and rivers, quad bike tours through the forest, reindeer farm/husky farm visits and campfire diners in the open air under the midnight sun.

Ilmatar Restaurant serves as a banquet and theme restaurant as well as the breakfast restaurant of the hotel. Ahjo: This lovely small club is located in Bulevardi, center of the city. It has room for 350 people and a small terrace for 20 persons. Age limit is 24-years.

Admire the unique river scenery while relaxing in a whirlpool or having a lovely dinner. The Spa-Hotel Scandic Kiannon Kuohot offers many options and activities in the midst of the Nordic settings. The hotel is situated at the federal highway 5 in the centre of the village Suomussalmi. Shops and other service providers can be found in the close surroundings. Treehotel: Activities at Design Hotel

The Treehotel is the new attraction in Swedish Lapland. Since its opening in 201o, the hotel attracts nature – and design lovers from all over the world.

Its location is around 60 km south of the polar circle. The Treehotel in the pine forest of Harads does not only offer impressive views over the valley of the Lulea river. It also offers various activities for the guests of the Hotel. No matter if it is Summer or Winter season, guests will have the opportunity to experience exciting activities in the nature.

Special attention is drawn to activities by horse. Forestry work with a horse is just one example. Here you get an impression what the daily forestry work looks like in the swedish woods. The guided tour starts in the morning at the Treehotel. From here an experienced guide picks you up and equips you with the necessary working tools (helmet, safety harness and saw). Together with a team of lumberman you cut the trees with the traditional handsaw and cut it further into lenghts. After a lunch break you pull the trunks out of the woods with the help of your working horse .

After work you look after the horse, followed by transfer back to hotel.

Treehotel: Architects present new rooms

The Treehotel is going to expand their offer in Autumn 2011, with additional rooms in the forest of the Swedish Harads. Two famous Scandinavian designer and architects will be responsible for the project.

The Finnish Sami Rintala who lives in Norway is known among the world for his puristical and gentle resource architectural style. The architect is also well known as designer, created a minimalistic concept. A narrow corridor alike treehouse, which reflects the natural materials of its surroundings.

The Swedish design office Marge will be responsible for the second object. A group of innovative young architects discovers how forms and materials can be used in a totally new and unexpected way of design. The concept “room with a view” offers unfamiliar views from the in- and outside. The modern design, which offers a lot of transparency, let the treehouse stand out from its surrounding.

The Treehotel, which is situated over the valley of the Lulea-river, around 60 kilometers south of the polar circle, offers its guests five totally different hotel rooms in the form of treehouses. The accommodation hang all in around 6 meters high pine trees near the city of Harads.

Levi Panorama: Chasing the Northern Lights

Polar nights, which are also known as Northern lights, are a luminous effect, especially occurring in the pole areas. In Scandinavia it can be mainly seen northward of the 60.latitude and is one of the highlights in the wintery Lapland.

Levi: Restaurant Saamen Kammi

One of the rare and real Sami restaurants can be found in Levi. The so called “Kammi” (Earth lodge in English) Restaurant is located halfway underground and is known for its cosy and warm atmosphere. Here Guests can enjoy a delicious warm meal for a special occasion, like after an active outdoor day on the Ski-slopes of Levi. Among other meals, smoked reindeer steak, salmon with sour cream and dill sauce prepared at an open fire or Kammi’s host stew are on choice.

The Samis are a folk with a 2000 year long lasting tradition. They mostly live in the most nothern part of Scandinavia. To this day Reindeers play a major role in the lifes of the Samis. Besides smoked fish, root vegetables and cloudberry pancakes, reindeermeat is major component of the Sami cusine.

Once you are inside the restaurant you can feel the warmth of the open fire, experience Sámi hospitality and enjoy yoik’s (a Sámi form of singing) by Niiles-Jouni. A truely unique experience!

The restaurant serves at 6pm and 9pm. A serving will go on if there are at least ten reservations in total. (Maximum 85 persons)
Reservations can be made until 3 p.m. on the day before.
A serving typically takes 2,5 hours and costs 49€ / person
